As part of the Europe Purchasing team, your missions and activities include the following:
Activity 1: Manage a team of project buyers
* Hierarchical Management: take charge of appraisal and training for your team
* Provide guidance, support, and coaching at group level. Propose development plans based on project buyer needs. Support less experienced buyers. Provide guidance on product and purchasing process issues.
* Ensure smooth transitions in personnel moves and promote team members' development and evolution.
* Monitor workload and buyer performance; collaborate with management to balance workload within the group.
Activity 2: Sourcing Process
* Establish the supplier shortlist with project buyers for the project, ensuring linkage to commodity strategy and knowledge transfer.
* Negotiate according to quality, cost, and deadlines.
* Propose and compare alternative solutions.
* Present sourcing recommendations to the Sourcing Board. Validate and consolidate proposals at group level.
Activity 3: Ordering and Payment
* Manage purchase requests and orders related to projects.
* Follow payment schedules to suppliers.
Activity 4: Coordination & Tracking
* Identify project risks and opportunities, plan activities, coordinate internally and externally, and track progress to final realization.
* Lead task forces on critical topics related to suppliers and quality, cost, and timing issues, escalating as necessary.
Activity 5: Supplier Quality & Nonevent Launch
* Participate in POMs events as required and ensure POMs processes and mindset are part of group coaching.
* Implement Tier 2 readiness processes to aim for non-event launches related to suppliers.
Activity 6: Project Management
* Lead the extended team activities for group projects.
* Manage critical topics within your projects and support buyers on their critical issues.
* Keep management informed of critical issues.
Activity 7: Budget Management
* Validate project budgets and guide buyers on budget processes and follow-up.
* Propose adjustments based on project scope changes.
* Monitor project hours and alert in case of discrepancies.
* Regularly report budget status to management.
Activity 8: Continuous Improvements
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for job, organization, and methodology.
* Contribute to project closures and provide feedback on best practices and challenges, coordinating with project teams and stakeholders.
Requirements for the Position:
Personal Background
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business with a specialization in purchasing.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in project purchasing.
Technical Skills
* Technical negotiation skills.
* Knowledge of finance & cash management.
* Understanding of logistics (incoterms, consignment).
* Crisis management abilities.
* Experience in project management within the automotive industry.
Soft Skills
* Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
* Strong team player.
* Rigor and results-oriented mindset.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Leadership qualities.
* Ability to multitask.
