About the Role

As a Data Scientist Intern at Metreecs, you’ll work at the crossroads of our AI research team and our product & client-onboarding teams. You’ll help architect and maintain the data backbone that powers our forecasting models, while also ensuring seamless integration for new clients. This is a hands-on role where you’ll wear multiple hats - building ETL pipelines, managing databases, interfacing with APIs, and supporting customer-facing projects.


What You’ll Do

* Design & Build ETL Pipelines: Extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources (CSV, APIs, databases) into our data warehouse
* API Integration: Develop and maintain integrations with third-party systems to streamline data flows for both R&D and client setups
* Data Infrastructure Management: Administer and optimize our database stack (Postgres, relational databases), ensuring data quality and performance
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with the AI team to prepare training data, and with the onboarding team to support client data ingestion and custom reports
* Ad Hoc Analytics & Modeling: Use SQL, Python, Pandas, Polars, and ML libraries to explore datasets, prototype models, and deliver insights for client missions
* Documentation & Best Practices: Write clear technical documentation and help establish standards for data processing and deployment

We Expect You To Have

* Proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience using Pandas & ML Libraries
* Familiarity with ETL concepts and building data pipelines
* Experience working with APIs (REST, JSON) and integrating external data sources
* Knowledge of Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and basic administration tasks
* A flexible, solution-oriented mindset - ready to pivot between backend infrastructure and client-facing work
* Strong communication skills to liaise with technical teams and customers


Nice to Have

* Experience with workflow/orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect)
* Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
