What you will do:

* Key day to day point of accountability for the execution of the wholesale credit risk management framework, policies, procedures, regulatory, control and monitoring, in respect of wholesale counterparties
* This role evaluates, provides advice & guidance on, and recommends/decides wholesale applications and assessments, in a manner which safeguards HBCE and the Group’s capital and reputation while contributing to its strategic objectives across several countries, with the complexity it may involve


In this role you will:

* Support the strategies of HCIB through Risk Appetite engagement proposal and agreement.
* Deputise HBCE Head of WCRM (except for the transactional approvals) and/or HBEU Head of PPRRC as and when required
* Proactive portfolio monitoring at Portfolio, Single Name, Country, and Sector levels
* Oversee the identification of post approval risks, elevate and remediate as appropriate
* Analyse Country level and Regional MI (including stress test results), produced by Business or Risk, that helps to direct appropriate use of balance sheet and to mitigate risk
* Ensure that the risk information used in reporting is fit for purpose
* Be the main contact point with regards to internal and external audits/independent reviews (including ECB OSIs) impacting WCR. Be one of the key stakeholders for WCRM with regards to regulatory remediation
* Provide guidance, support and regional oversight of WCR activities in Continental Europe, including the controls performed by WCR
* Be the lead for WCRM on HBCE-related projects and initiatives (including those related to efficiencies of the approval process onshore and offshore)
* Support Group Risk projects and initiatives as key Subject Matter Expert within WCRM, and through regional execution where appropriate
* Support WCRO & WCR in the policy management activities, as well as the control related activities


You should apply if you have:

* Typically, qualifications would include an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or an equivalent professional qualification
* Demonstrate wholesale credit skills at senior level, not only on a transactional basis
* Knowledge of HSBC Group, its customers, operations and products
* General knowledge of law, accounting and regulatory requirements
* Leadership and management skills
* Great influencing and communication skills, with experience dealing with high-level stakeholders
* Ability to work in English (English fluency required)
* Analysis, interpretation and report writing
