Description du poste :
Role purpose: The Specialist of Transport Network will be responsible for designing, optimization, implementation and performance improvement of Vodacom DRC transmission network infrastructure. This role includes assessing network requirements, planning, monitoring and evaluating network performance metrics, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and Vodacom requirements
Key Accountable responsibilities:
· Design and implement the transport network infrastructure for the Vodacom based on the latest technologies, architectures, and protocols, ensuring scalability, availability, and security.
· Optimize the transport network infrastructure, including microwave, and satellite technologies, across various types of topologies and geographies.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Network Operations Centre (NOC), engineering, and sales teams, to evaluate business requirements and design effective transport network solutions to support them.
· Evaluate network performance metrics, such as latency, jitter, packet loss, and capacity utilization, and develop strategies to improve network performance and user experience.
Provide HLD/LLDs and troubleshoot technical problems during the testing, migration and integration stage, ensuring that proper handover documentation is also provided to the Operational Team under the umbrella of the Technology Operations.
Manager Layer2 Traffic engineering on transport network
Manage IP and VLAN allocation, assignment, utilization tracking, ensure adherence to best practices for IP address and VLAN management, and elaborate the database for IP@ of all NEs and for all services integrated on transport network: IP@, VLAN, tunnels, PW, S-tag,…
· Provide technical support to resolve incidents to minimize service disruption and maintain high network availability.
· Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices for telecom transport network design and optimization.
· Keep up-to-date with the latest technological developments, network architecture, and protocols to identify opportunities to enhance the transport network and improve efficiency and reliability.
· Provide technical expertise to other departments, including Sales and NOC Teams, to support network expansion and customer retention.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
· Strong knowledge of telecom transport network technologies, including microwave, satellite, and fibre, and their deployment in various network topologies (e.g., Access Layer, Aggregation Layer, and core Layer/ring, point-to-point, mesh, etc.).
· Familiarized with ISP legacy and next-generation network concepts like E-Line, E-LAN, VPWS, VPLS, MPLS, SR, SRV6, EVPN, E-Tree, Traffic Engineer
· Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve network issues in a timely manner.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
· Experience in project management and vendor management
· Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use network performance data to optimize network performance and user experience.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecom transport network design, implementation, and management. Maintenance.
· Familiarity with transmission planning tools, network simulation software, and optimization techniques
· Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification or equivalent, or proficiency in IP routing network principes

· Network Availability: the percentage of time the transport network is available to users. The specialist of transport network should monitor network downtime and implement measures to ensure maximum uptime.
· Network Utilization: the degree to which the transport network capacity is being used, by monitoring traffic levels. Ensure that the network capacity is optimized to support business needs and avoid overloads that could lead to service degradation.
· Customer Satisfaction: the transport network service. The specialist should ensure that customer needs are being met and implement measures to address any complaints or concerns.
· Service Level Agreement (SLA) Adherence: the extent to which the transport network meets the agreed-upon service level agreements with the subcontractors. The specialist should monitor the network performance against SLA targets and implement measures to ensure the network meets or exceeds these targets.
