As an Investment Director focused on Shipping Asset Finance, you will lead the origination, execution, and management of investments in the maritime sector, with broader exposure to transportation finance, equipment leasing, and infrastructure. You will play a key role in shaping the fund’s strategy, building industry relationships, and maximizing long-term value across a growing portfolio.
I. Investment Execution & Portfolio Management
* Develop and cultivate proprietary networks with key market participants, including advisors, financial sponsors, corporates, and sector specialists, to drive deal origination.
* Originate and structure new investment opportunities across shipping and adjacent asset finance verticals such as transportation, equipment leasing, and infrastructure.
* Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline through active market engagement, direct outreach, and participation in industry events.
* Lead the execution of investment opportunities, including negotiation of deal terms, structuring, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
* Oversee full due diligence processes—covering credit analysis, asset evaluations, market studies, and financial forecasting.
* Draft, negotiate, and finalize term sheets and legal documentation in collaboration with legal advisors.
* Prepare and present comprehensive investment proposals and recommendations to the Investment Committee.
* Manage post-investment monitoring, including regular engagement with management teams, asset revaluation, performance tracking, and restructurings when needed.
* Maximize returns in alignment with the fund’s risk/return objectives and portfolio strategy.
II. Shipping Origination Leadership
* Lead origination efforts in the shipping sector, leveraging internal sector expertise and cross-functional insights.
* Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities.
* Coordinate with internal teams across aerospace, land transport, and logistics to optimize cross-sector origination.
* Manage pipeline development, tracking, and reporting in collaboration with investment and risk teams.
III. Cross-Functional Leadership
* Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on technical skills, transaction management, and professional development.
* Allocate internal resources strategically in response to pipeline evolution and team capacity.
* Collaborate closely with the Portfolio and Finance teams on portfolio reporting, valuation, and financial planning initiatives.
* Represent the fund at conferences, investor meetings, and strategic industry forums to enhance visibility and build relationships.
IV. Compliance & Stakeholder Reporting
* Ensure all investment activities adhere to internal policies, regulatory standards, and ESG frameworks.
* Prepare detailed investment reports and presentations for internal committees, LPs, and other stakeholders.
* Support audit, risk, and compliance reviews related to investment activity and portfolio performance.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in investment management, with a strong track record of leading successful transactions in the shipping sector
* Demonstrated expertise in shipping asset finance deal origination, supported by a well-established network and proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships
* In-depth knowledge of English law as it pertains to loan and lease agreements, with hands-on experience in contract negotiation
* Extensive experience in building, leading, and mentoring high-performing deal teams across complex transactions
* Proven ability to manage borrowers / lessees’ relationships and engage effectively with co-investors, lenders, and other key stakeholders
* Fluent in English is mandatory
* The position is based in Paris or London and involves regular travel
