Director machine learning

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Machine Learning to lead the development of next-generation AI solutions in medical imaging. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes by building advanced ML systems that support diagnostic accuracy, clinical decision-making, and operational efficiency in radiology and other image-driven specialties.


You will lead a cross-functional team of machine learning scientists, engineers, and research collaborators to design, build, and deploy scalable models used in real-world healthcare environments. Your work will be central to product innovation and regulatory strategy.


Key Responsibilities:


* Strategy & Leadership
* Define and execute the machine learning roadmap aligned with product and clinical objectives.
* Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of ML scientists and engineers.
* Act as a key technical leader and thought partner across product, clinical, and regulatory functions.
* Technical Direction
* Design and optimize machine learning models for 2D/3D medical image analysis, segmentation, classification, anomaly detection, and multimodal data fusion.
* Oversee development of model pipelines from training to deployment, including validation on large-scale medical imaging datasets.
* Ensure model interpretability, generalizability, and regulatory compliance (FDA, CE mark).
* Collaboration
* Work closely with radiologists, data scientists, software engineers, and regulatory experts to ensure clinical relevance and product usability.
* Engage with academic and industry partners on cutting-edge research collaborations and clinical validation studies.


Required Qualifications

* 12+ years of experience in applied machine learning, with at least 5+ years in leadership roles.
* Deep expertise in medical imaging and related ML techniques (e.g., CNNs, 3D deep learning, transformer architectures for imaging, radiomics).
* Proven track record of deploying ML models in healthcare or regulated clinical environments.
* Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
* Familiarity with imaging formats (DICOM, NIfTI), PACS systems, and cloud-based ML pipelines (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Demonstrated ability to translate complex ML solutions into actionable product strategies and outcomes.


Preferred Qualifications

* Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
