Osta Therapeutics: developing smart drugs to fight anticiotic resistance

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a silent pandemic, causing over 1.27M direct deaths each year and an estimated $66B yearly economic burden annually.

After years of limited innovation, the AMR market is experiencing a revival, driven byfinancialand regulatory incentives (QIDP, fast-track designation, and extended exclusivity)driving this 10bn$ current market to grow 6–7% CAGR.

Truly innovative programs, particularly those addressing novel bacterial targets, are well positioned to benefit from these accelerated value-creation mechanisms.

Osta Therapeutics is part of this momentum with its patented smart prodrug technology, activated specifically by bacterial resistance enzymes, enabling targeted delivery and improved pharmacokinetics.

Since 2022, we have raised near €1.3m(BPI, ILab, love money...), completed target ID, hit-to-lead, and achievedin vivoPoCwith our first program targeting CRAb (WHO Priority 1 pathogen) via FtsZ inhibition, a highly valuable antibacterial target.

We are now seeking to raise €3M seed funding to further optimize this lead compound and reach IND readiness by the end of 2027, with an expected exit early 2030 (Phase 3-ready asset) andmultiple value inflection pointsanticipated during the preclinical stages, supported by a team with recognized expertise in microbiology, medicinal chemistry, and innovative biotech development.

Founding team :

* Jacques Samarut : PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Extensive academic (CNRS, ENS Lyon) and Management (President, ENS Lyon) experiences. Contributor to the creation of three biotcech companies (two are listed).
* Eric Samarut : PhD in Molecular Aspects of Life Sciences from Univeersité de Strasbourg. MBA from Ecole des Sciences de Gestion de Montréal (Canada). Researcher at the University of Montreal Hospital Center in the Neurosciences'axis and Professor at the Faculty of Medecine of the University of Montreal
* Daniel Henry : MastersDegree in Finance and Accountancy from the Reims University and Executive MBA from HEC Paris. CFO and Managing Director (30 years) with Merck KGaA-France (sales €1.12b / 4200 employees). Diverse Senior Executive and management consultant with a broad international background (more than 30 years of top level management experience in the heatlhcare industry.
