Nous recherchons pour notre client, une jeune start'up deeptech issue de la recherche académique, spécialisée dans le développement et la commercialisation d'une solution de conversion électrochimique du CO en éthylène, monomère qui est l'entrant principal de l'industrie pétrochimique, un·e CEO / Chief Product Officer F/H afin de porter une ambition entrepreneuriale forte et conduire l'entreprise vers l'industrialisation et le marché.

Suite à plusieurs années de recherche soutenues par des financements européens de premier plan, l'entreprise a développé une technologie brevetée visant à contribuer activement à la décarbonation et à la défossilisation du secteur pétrochimique. Engagée dans une démarche de durabilité et d'innovation responsable, elle s'inscrit au coeur des enjeux de transition énergétique et industrielle européens.

Aujourd'hui positionnée au stade TRL 4 avec un pilote de laboratoire opérationnel, l'entreprise bénéficie d'une équipe scientifique reconnue dans son domaine, d'un portefeuille de propriété intellectuelle solide et de partenariats académiques et industriels en Europe. Des premières preuves de concept et projets de co-développement avec des acteurs du secteur démontrent une traction marché forte et un intérêt industriel croissant.

Les prochaines années seront déterminantes : il s'agira de relever les enjeux de montée en échelle et de structurer la scalabilité industrielle afin de transformer une innovation scientifique à fort potentiel en un produit industriel robuste et performant, capable de susciter l'engagement de partenaires pétrochimiques majeurs et d'attirer des investisseurs stratégiques.

Poste

Dans ce contexte, vous prenez la direction générale de l'entreprise avec une responsabilité globale : accélérer le développement et l'industrialisation d'un produit deeptech fondé sur une technologie de rupture, et structurer autour de celui-ci une entreprise ambitieuse et durable. Le rôle est résolument axé produit, industrialisation et vision stratégique, avec pour ambition de positionner l'entreprise comme un leader européen de la conversion électrochimique du CO.

En étroite collaboration avec les fondateurs, le Chief Scientific Officer et le Responsable R&D, vous définissez et portez la stratégie produit et industrielle de l'entreprise. Vous construisez la vision long terme, le positionnement stratégique et la trajectoire de développement, en assurant l'alignement entre excellence scientifique, ambition entrepreneuriale et exigences industrielles. Vous traduisez les avancées technologiques en une feuille de route claire, priorisée et finançable, orientée vers le marché, et pilotez la montée en maturité vers des démonstrateurs industriels (TRL 6 et au-delà).

Vous structurez la transition vers une logique pleinement industrielle en arbitrant les choix relatifs à la production de stacks, aux modèles de partenariat industriel et à l'intégration système. Vous identifiez et priorisez les verrous technologiques critiques, définissez des jalons industriels mesurables et installez une trajectoire crédible de montée en échelle en lien avec les équipes scientifiques et techniques.

Vous organisez et faites évoluer l'entreprise pour permettre son passage à l'échelle : recrutement et structuration des équipes, clarification de la gouvernance, mise en place d'instances décisionnelles et de boards, formalisation des processus et pilotage de la performance.

Vous portez également les enjeux financiers et institutionnels du projet, en pilotant la recherche de financements publics et privés, la préparation et la conduite des levées de fonds, et la structuration de partenariats stratégiques. Vous représentez l'entreprise auprès des acteurs industriels, investisseurs et institutions.

Il s'agit d'un véritable projet entrepreneurial : vous contribuez activement à la structuration et au développement d'une entreprise technologique à fort potentiel. En cohérence avec cette dimension et le niveau de responsabilité associé, une participation significative au capital via un mécanisme de BSPCE est prévue.

Le poste peut être basé à Montpellier, à Lyon ou dans toute autre localisation stratégique reconnue pour son écosystème pétrochimique ou industriel en France ou en Europe, en cohérence avec la stratégie d'implantation future.

Profil

Vous êtes avant tout un·e entrepreneur·e capable de structurer, accélérer et faire passer à l'échelle une entreprise deeptech disposant d'un produit innovant et différenciant.

Vous justifiez d'une expérience significative en direction d'entreprise technologique, startup ou scale-up, idéalement dans un contexte de spin-off ou de transition recherche-industrie. Vous avez déjà piloté ou accompagné une phase d'industrialisation et de montée en maturité technologique.

Vous combinez vision stratégique, compréhension technique solide (électrochimie, chimie des hydrocarbures, chimie verte, procédés ou domaine connexe) et forte orientation business. Un Doctorat ou un diplôme d'ingénieur est apprécié pour la crédibilité scientifique et la capacité à traduire la science en valeur.

Vous savez, négocier avec des fournisseurs et des partenaires industriels et porter une vision à long terme.

Doté·e d'un esprit entrepreneurial affirmé, orienté·e action et résultats, vous êtes capable de prendre des décisions dans des environnements incertains, de fédérer des profils scientifiques de haut niveau et de construire une organisation performante.

Une maîtrise professionnelle de l'anglais est indispensable du fait du marché global visé par la société.

Role

In this context, you will take on the overall leadership of the company, with full responsibility for accelerating the development and industrialization of a breakthrough deeptech product, while structuring a scalable and ambitious organization around it.

The role is strongly focused on product strategy, industrialization, and long-term vision, with the ambition to position the company as a European leader in electrochemical CO conversion.

Working closely with the founders, the Chief Scientific Officer, and the Head of R&D, you will define and drive the company's product and industrial strategy. You will shape the long-term vision, strategic positioning, and development roadmap, ensuring alignment between scientific excellence, entrepreneurial ambition, and industrial requirements.

You will translate technological advancements into a clear, prioritized and fundable roadmap, oriented toward market deployment, and drive the transition from laboratory scale (TRL 4) to industrial demonstrators (TRL 6+).

You will lead the transition toward a fully industrial approach by making key decisions regarding stack production, industrial partnership models, and system integration. You will identify critical technological bottlenecks, define measurable industrial milestones, and establish a credible scale-up trajectory in close collaboration with scientific and technical teams.

You will also structure and scale the organization: recruiting and building teams, clarifying governance, setting up decision-making bodies and boards, implementing processes, and managing performance.

In addition, you will lead the financial and institutional aspects of the project, including securing public and private funding, preparing and leading fundraising rounds, and structuring strategic partnerships. You will represent the company with industrial players, investors, and institutional stakeholders.

This is a true entrepreneurial opportunity, where you will actively contribute to building and developing a high-potential technology company. In line with this responsibility, a significant equity participation (BSPCE) is included.

The role can be based in Montpellier, Lyon, or any other strategic industrial location in France or Europe, depending on the company's future development strategy.

Profile

You are an entrepreneur, capable of structuring, accelerating, and scaling a deeptech company built around a differentiated and innovative product.

You have significant experience in leading a technology-driven company, startup, or scale-up, ideally in a spin-off or research-to-industry transition context. You have already managed or supported industrialization phases and technology scale-up.

You combine strategic vision, solid technical understanding (electrochemistry, hydrocarbon chemistry, green chemistry, industrial processes, or related fields), and strong business acumen.

A PhD or engineering degree is a plus for scientific credibility and the ability to translate science into value.

You are comfortable negotiating with suppliers and industrial partners and are able to carry a long-term vision.

With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, action-oriented and results-driven, you are able to make decisions in uncertain environments, unite high-level scientific teams, and build a high-performing organization.

Professional fluency in English is required, given the company's international scope.
