Job Description

SOCOTEC Engineering is currently looking for an experienced CWI inspector to join our Brooklyn, NY team.  This position works in support of the specialty engineering failure analysis and fitness for service efforts.  The ideal candidate will be able to provide AWS CWI inspection techniques to a diverse set of projects, ranging but not limited to construction, fabrication, and nuclear facilities. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and the ability to function independently and as a team.

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Knowledge of AWS codes and experience applying them.
• Perform field walkdowns and inspections in support of specialty engineering projects.
• Interpret, evaluate, communicate and report findings to engineering project managers.
• Interpret and review engineering drawings as required.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather, analyze and communicate information to resolve problems.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and skills are required for this position:

• Minimum of two years working in an engineering environment, 2+ years of experience as an AWS CWI, NDE/NDT knowledge desired.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical skills required.
• Basic understanding of, and ability to read drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, working at heights.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to travel to customer or project sites (moderate travel required)
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
