**Job Description:**

**Airbus Helicopters* is looking for a Materials & processes engineer - Advanced technologies for helicopter’s protection and repair *(f/m)* to join our Design Office based in * Marignane, France.**

The maintenance of helicopters is a critical aspect of customer satisfaction. Materials and processes play a key role in maintenance activities and the role of LMP is to provide appropriate products and information to the Support and Services department as well as the final customer to make helicopter maintenance easier and cheaper.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Airbus Helicopters to join the Preservation and Servicing team in Materials, Processes and Test Department. As a member of ETXLS team, you will be in charge of developing, qualifying and bringing support to customers in the field of maintenance products and associated processes. To cover this activity, we are looking for an experienced material engineer with transversal knowledge on metallic materials, corrosion, oils / greases, protection materials applied to helicopters.

The team « Systems - ETXLS » is a transnational organization shared between Donauwörth Paris Le Bourget and Marignane. The position will be located in Marignane.

* Tasks and responsibilities : *


You will be responsible for the following main activities

* Study, define and qualify consumable materials for helicopters preservation and maintenance
* Manage and perform testing in the Preservation & Servicing laboratory
* Write technical documentation on methods / procedures to apply consumable materials for helicopter’s manufacturing and for repair
* Transfer LMP inputs for materials and processes and engineering data into customer support documentation
* Harmonize and manage the process to update maintenance manuals for all helicopters programs (Civil and governmental helicopters)
* Participate in missions on end customers premises to collect lessons learned on materials behaviour in service, as well as best practices in terms of preservation and maintenance
* Solve demands from customers (MRO and customer maintenance centers) and implement new technologies
* Analyze incidents linked to materials defect
* Propose solutions to issues related to faulty components, materials and installation on helicopters
* Capitalize lessons learned from in operation incidents and foster the implementation of design improvements to solve root causes of defects, in relation with support and services department
* Provide guidance towards LMP specialists to take into account maintenance during materials selection and qualification
* Provide trainings to customer support departments
* Implement action plans in service linked to materials evolutions due to environmental regulation and protection (REACH, RoHS) - for example lead free technologies, cadmium and chromate free surface treatments/coatings, etc
* Foster qualified materials as an alternative to maintenance products proposed / used by end customers
* Contribute to establish the technological roadmaps related to materials and processes used for preservation and maintenance
* Manage research and innovation on new technologies to improve processes to preserve and repair helicopters (including condition-based maintenance based on in service data collection, functional materials like super hydrophobic)
* Main skills and competences required *


You have the following competences and experience

* Master degree, engineering degree or PhD (or equivalent) in the field of materials (with specific knowledge on corrosion, materials aging and failure analysis, temporary protection of materials, etc
* Experience in laboratory testing, vehicle maintenance in aerospace industry and project management
* You are aware of environmental regulations REACH, RoHS, VOC,
* You are a highly engaged person with a great sense of initiative, autonomy, integrity and the ability to manage confidential topics
* You show strong team spirit, communication, interpersonal and networking skills
* You enjoy working close to the operations, in strong link with end customers (strong customer-oriented mindset)
* Your English and your French are at negotiating level, additional language skills in German is considered a plus
